Fire Island Beach Day

Part I - Sun, Surf and Paddle Ball

This week the family spent a long and lazy day on Fire Island, one of my favorite local destinations. Truth be told, we had not been there in awhile, but since this summer we were doing a "stay-cation", it was the perfect destination.

Fire Island is a beautiful barrier island and a 30 minute ferry ride from the south shore. No cars allowed. Bicycles, scooters, wagons and bare feet rule. Walking and biking are a way of life. Parents have the freedom to let children roam about freely. Life slows down to a crawl.

Beachy, sun-drenched and lazy describe life on Fire Island. A slice of Heaven!
