The Storm Before the Calm

Life would be kind of boring if every day was sunny and bright.
Sometimes you need a good stormy day to mix things up a bit.
And then you appreciate the beautiful days all the more.
Don't you agree?

The Work Truck

I just want a pretty truck.
Really......
No real use for one....but I'd find one.
Especially if it looked like one of these vintage ones.
What do you think?
xoxo S.
(Full Disclosure: I did not take the original photographs...Just played with the filters.
Kind of made them my own.)

Good Photo Honey

Recently my husband traveled to Los Angeles on business.
He sent me this beautiful photo of a formal garden.
I tweaked it.....just a little.....
It really was quite nice on it's own.
Good job honey.

Breakfast

Can't start my day without breakfast.
One never should.
Of course what you eat makes all the difference.
It has to been delicious, and healthy.
It should also look pretty!
What did you have for breakfast today?
xoxo S.
Maybe not so healthy, but pretty...don't you think?

One of my boys ordered a "sad faced pancake" for breakfast.
Guess he woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning.

Well this is really the best way to start a morning....in my opinion of course.

My favorite breakfast though...cornflakes with blueberries. Yum!

Homemade French Toast is good with blueberries and powered sugar too.

And of course a morning run to the local coffee house along with
a french pastry and a pretzel roll.
Too much for breakfast?
Hope you enjoy your breakfast this morning!!

Soccer Sundays

It's fall.
And that means Soccer.
We spend several hours a week on the soccer field.
We root for our kid's teams.
We watch some exciting games.
Visit with good friends.
And I take pictures....
LOTS of pictures...............
It's inspiring to me.
Here are some of my most recent images.

Changing it up...a Bit

A new piece of art can change up a room.....
My family room needed something above a favorite sofa...
And if...and when... I need a change...
I can move this piece to another spot...
And find a new piece to put in it's place........
Definitely fun to change it up a bit.

Fairytale Castle

I have always loved Castles.
While traveling, I will visit every castle I can.
From Cinderella's Castle in Disney World .....
to Schloss Neuschwanstein in Germany....
And many in between!
Don't you love a good castle?

More Elegance

Who does not love the Beautiful and Elegant City of Venice?
One cannot help but fall in love with it's elegance.
It sort of reminds me of New Orleans.
Simply Divine
xoxo S.
I have been fortunate to have visited Venice several times.....
It was fun to update this favorite photo.

A Fading and Shabby Chic City

New Orleans is a Shabby Chic City.
A beautiful and elegant city.......within it's slightly fading facade.
So much beauty in all that elegance.
Simply Inspiring!
Wouldn't you agree?
xoxo S.
No words are needed......I love everything about the French Quarter and Garden District.
Pictures I took a few year back...
but updated with new filters, still look beautiful and elegant.
Hope you  Enjoy

Art Show

This past week-end our town had it's annual outdoor art show.
We attend every year.
We love finding wonderful pieces for our house.
And we love supporting the local artists.
So despite a tornado watch and an approaching storm,
we managed to once again find the perfect piece.
xoxo S.
No tornado was going to keep us for attending the show this year.

So many artists, so many booths....

And every once in  awhile the sun would peak out to brighten the experience....

I do love a good art show.

Late Summer Beauty

Sunflowers are one of nature's greatest gifts of late summer.
These beauties are blooming in my garden right now.
Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
xoxo S.
No words are needed....simply divine.

Waited a long time to see them bloom.

Completely worth the wait! Don't you agree?

A Norman Rockwell Moment

Just because September comes...
doesn't mean outdoor living has to stop.
My friend's son is still enjoying his outdoors bath...
As long as the weather is still warm.....
xoxo S.
I got lucky with this photo.....doesn't hurt that the subject is just too cute!

The Elephant Ear

I have always loved elephant ears.
Not the animal of course.....although they are cool too.
But the plant.
It definitely makes a statement in any garden.
Even on a prairie by the beach.
These were not in my garden this year....
But how incredible are they?
xoxo S.
Almost looks like a heart, doesn't it?

Love the light shinning through.

And I had no idea they came in purple too!
Who knew?

Today marks 11 Years.
Today, and always, we will never forget

Not Over Summer Just Yet

We are well into the second week of September now.
The light seems a bit different.
But I still miss summer.
Don't worry...I will totally be getting into fall.....soon.
But for now I am still holding onto summer a bit longer.
Am I the only one?

The Sunflower

Who doesn't love sunflowers?
They are big and showy.
(and I do love anything BIG.....sunflowers, elephant ears...giraffes..I could go on and on.)
Back to sunflowers.
Sunflowers make a statement.
My friend Erin had planted some in her amazing vegetable garden....
And I couldn't wait to photograph them.
They were in various stages of bloom and made an amazing subject.
Sometimes I feel that it is a shame to cut the flowers to bring indoors.
I just love seeing them outside in all their glory.
Don't you love sunflowers too?
xoxo S.

Nothing says "August" quite like the sunflower!

I was lucky that this bee was too busy to notice me standing so close to photograph him.

Even when the blooms are done they still look great!

A mini work of art!

No matter the angle.

OK, so this bloom is no longer so lovely...but I somehow liked it still.

I love how the sunlight shines behind this beautiful fluffy sunflower bloom.

Interesting to note the various stages of the sunflower's life in one shot.

A little bit sad...but a little bit wonderful still.

A study of the SUNFLOWER.....

I really enjoy spending time finding interesting ways to photograph a subject...and
this subject gave me great pleasure.
What do YOU think?
xoxo S.
