Happy Halloween

One of the most fun days of the year.
At least ask any kid and that is what they would tell you.
It is kind of fun though....
Happy Trick-or-Treating.

Halloweens Past

I can't help but remember some earlier Halloweens with my boys.
This was one of my favorite.
Two of my three little ones as Stegasaurus'
Every year I strive to out do this....just never really have.
But I keep trying!

Lions and Tigers and Flying Monkeys, Oh My!

I fell in love with this sign.
I love The Wizard of Oz.
I always wanted Gelinda's dress.
But for some reason some people always associate me with the Wicked Witch instead.
Baffling!

My Perfect Pumpkin

Not all Halloween pumpkins have to be orange and perfect.
This pale beauty was a gift from a good friend.........
who knows I love my pumpkins not so perfect.
Yet every bit as beautiful.
Don't you agree?

When Less is More for Halloween

The Halloween mantle this year is quite simple.
A few little gourds....and a few fanciful figures.
That is all you really need.
Sometimes less is really all you need?
Don't you agree?

A Favorite Photo

This has always been one of my favorite photos.
I love the different colors of the old buildings on this lovely street
in Austria taken during a trip there several years ago.
I like it just as much today...
Makes me wish I could take a trip and explore this town again.
One day............

Late Season Roses

Roses can be very difficult to care for.
By mid-summer they seem almost sad at times.
But my rose garden is blooming now more than ever.
And I couldn't be happier.
What do you think?

A Halloween Bottle of Poison

I recently scared some friends who came for an early dinner.
They spotted this bottle near the salad that we had just eaten!
Exactly the right reaction for Halloween!
(No, I didn't really switch the balsamic vinegar for this poison..........
.......Or did I?)
Have Fun!

Inside a Snow Globe

Inside a Snow Globe must be a magical and fanciful place.
Sort of a beautiful moment frozen in time.
And the endless swirling snow reminds me of The Wizard of Oz when
the Good Witch made it snow on the poppy fields.
(I really don't know why.....)
Don't you just love snow globes too?
xoxo S.
This Halloween snow globe shows a haunting waltz being danced by
some very interesting characters.
So beautiful!

American Majesty

I LOVE America's National Parks.
Absolutely beautiful corners of our country where nature shines at its brightest.
Just being in one of our grand parks can lift your spirits.
Send your spirits soaring.
And just simply inspire you.
Do you have a favorite National Park?

Hello Old Friends

I love digging out the Halloween decorations.
Just unwrapping the bubble wrap and seeing what is inside
brings back memories of Halloweens past!
And I love remembering why I fell in love with them in the first place.
Just love the process of finding a home for them this year.....
And making our home fun for Halloween.
Yes, Hello Old Friends! Welcome to another Halloween!
What are your favorite Halloween decorations?

I Just Love This

Came across this photo in a magazine.
(Of course I couldn't just leave it alone now...could I?)
I just love this light fixture.
Romantic and unexpected.
And I just love the way the photo came out too.
Romantic and unexpected as well.
Now where could I put one of these in my house I wonder?

Art too Big for Home

Visiting an Art Museum can be a lot of fun.
Recently the boys saw some great sculptures at a museum nearby.
Too cool not to run through.....
Too BIG to have something like this in our own garden.
What do you think?

The Real Colombus Day

Columbus Day changes every year so it can fall on a Monday.
Always love a three day week-end.
BUT the real Columbus Day is not only Christopher Columbus' actual birthday....
It is also a holiday in my house.
Our youngest son celebrates his birthday too!
(He starts his countdown several week ahead....just to make sure we don't forget!)
Happy Birthday Christopher Columbus!
Happy Birthday Godzooky!!

An Inspiring Afternoon

What to do during a quiet afternoon?
Catch up on some favorite decorating magazines
and home decor books would be one idea.
I treasure my books and photos.
And I get incredible inspiration from all the beautiful pictures
of home and garden.
I can dream about what I want to incorporate into my own home.
Or maybe I should just vacuum and straighten up.
Maybe clean out a closet....I love throwing things away.
That feels good too!
So what are you doing this afternoon?

Apple Picking

Yesterday we spent the day apple picking.
And eating corn and hot dogs and pretzels.
Oh, and there was a huge corn maze and pumpkin patch as well.
Kids had a blast and it was a terrific fall day for all.
Now what more could you want on Columbus Day....right?
xoxo S.
Ah....Apples!

Acres and Acres of Apple Trees

How much fun was it to decide which apples would make it into the baskets and bags

Follow the rules....oh sure!

Can't wait to get them home and make a pie!
(Trust me...we had a lot more than this!!)
\

Ended the day with a run through the Corn Maze

And I mean RUN

Alaska

Still thinking about our beautiful country.
And another favorite vacation we were fortunate to take.
We fell in love with the flora, fauna and vistas of this great land of the north.
It doesn't get much prettier than this.
Would love to go back to share with our boys.
They would love it there.
Wouldn't you love to visit Alaska one day?
xoxo S.

(The colors used with this filter are beautiful and
I find I am drawn to them again and again.
They work in my home as well.)

Getting Ready for Halloween

Haven't done all my decorating yet....

Just something pretty to look at while preparing dinner and helping with homework.
It's a start.....I really do love this owl.....Definitely more to come.

And right in the middle was the largest spider.......
Judge for yourself.

Sisterly Inspiration

I think my sister is as crazy about interior design as I am.
And her home is so lovely.
This is her PRE-Halloween look......
Just a hint of what is to come for the spookiest of holidays.
Can't wait!!
