I Love my Mom

My oldest son drew this picture of me for Mother's Day.
It was so sweet I wanted to share.
(And it looks just like me!)

Last Memorial Week-End

Last year we spent part of Memorial Week-End with good friends.
We cleaned out their boat house and decorated it with twinkle lights, candles and flowers.
Good Food, Good Drink, Good Company.
It was the perfect summer party.
And quite frankly, when it comes to good friends, no matter the setting,
you just can't go wrong.

Happy Memorial Day

A lovely day of remembrance to honor all those who served and died keeping America free.
We will be watching our town parade.
Oh, AND it is the unofficial start of summer! An added bonus.
Wishing everyone a lovely day.

Little Barn near the Beach Prairie

I really do love the name of my blog....
Inspirations from The Beach Prairie.
I cannot say enough about my life near the beach.
And I have always thought of my garden as prairie-like.
There is something very romantic about life on the prairie.
These photos have a very "prairie" feel.
Just wanted to share.

Herb Farm - Part III (A Closer Look)

Of course a visit to the nursery is all about the flowers.
And you know how I like to get up close and personal with my flowers.
Here is a closer look at some of my favorites from the Herb Farm.
Now go outside, get inspired and start planting!

Herb Farm - Part II

Of course the Peconic Herb Farm is all about the plants.
There were just too many to chose from.
I really did want to take all of them home with me.
All that shopping made us quite hungry.
Picnics always taste better when eaten in a pretty location.
Don't you agree?

A Day at the Herb Farm - Part I

Last week-end we took a Saturday to spend time at the Peconic River Herb Farm.
It is a truly tranquil and lovely nursery set on 8 acres out East.
You can stroll the beautiful grounds searching for native or unusual plants to add to your own flower beds.
Or, you could find many different varieties of herbs that will enhance any summer meal you may be wishing to cook.
Another option is to picnic under a shade tree on the banks of the Peconic River.
Or perhaps you will do it all, and make an entire afternoon of it, as we did.
Whichever way, it has been a favorite Spring destination for my family.
Here is how our Saturday went.
Hope you too get inspired to add to your summer garden.
xoxo S.

Inside the barn are flea market and antique treasures to be found

Amazing how the boys always find the muckiest spot to have some fun!

To Be Continued Tomorrow. Stay Tuned! xoxo S.

Happy Birthday to my First Born

My oldest is celebrating his 12th birthday today.
I really don't know where 12 years went.
I remember it like yesterday, preparing for his arrival.
And falling in love with my sweet baby boy.
Each year when he turns another birthday...
It is a whole new world for me.
I've never had a 12 year before....so we will see together what the next year brings.
But I do know that I am so proud of my son, and the person he is becoming.
And I am even more in love with my first-born baby boy...
Who isn't a baby anymore. But always will be to me.
I love you forever
xoxo S. (aka MOM)

Portrait of an Iris

Iris' hold a special place in my heart.
It was my father's favorite flower.
We have several blooming in our garden.
So I thought I would do a study of the iris.
Enjoy!
